Netherland (Amsterdam)

Places visited: Amsterdam
Time: July, 2012 for about 4 days

Top things:
(1) Is Amsterdam pretty or what?
(2) Great Indian food options.
(3) Don't miss going to Zaanse Schans.

Gosh, this post has been long overdue. We traveled to Netherlands almost 7 years back (yep!, that long) and it was the 2nd foreign country we visited (after France). But, even today, when people ask me which my favorite European city is, I will quickly say 'Amsterdam'.

It was love at first sight. I had no idea Amsterdam was a city of canals till I visited it. Back then, I didn't google anything about any country we visited. I left all planning to my husband and blindly followed him. So, imagine my wonderment when we walked through canal after canal from our train station to the hotel.

Among the few things I remember are the beautiful museums, bikes everywhere in the city, the farmers market selling crazy amounts of cheese for pennies, hot apple pie we had in one of the cafes, a day trip to Zaanse Schans which I'll remember forever, the red light district,  great Indian food delivered to our hotel room and the delivery guy who returned our tip with a smile.

Amsterdam has a place in my heart forever and I wish I had blogged about my trip a lot earlier when I remembered more.
