Denmark (Copenhagen)
Places visited: Copenhagen
Dates: August 2019 (3-4 days)
General tips:
(1) The people are tall (like really tall) and the population is very homogeneous.
(2) Lots and lots of biking. More people bike than drive or walk.
(3) I had the best salmon of my life (so far) at a friend's place in Copenhagen. They actually purchased smoked salmon (from some place in Sweden) and served it for dinner, It was juicy and full of flavor.
(4) We had great vanilla ice cream (a generic brand we bought at a local super market).
(5) Copenhagen is actually very close to the lower part of Sweden - like a short drive away.
Things to do:
(1) Eat Smørrebrød - we had the best Smørrebrød (rye? bread with different type of toppings - we had shrimp, eggs, dill, etc.) It was awesome and also very heavy.
(2) Lots of small old castles and gardens to see.
(3) Walk along the canal street(?) - Nyhavn. It has colored building etc. Lots of people hanging out.
(4) Stopping street (Strøget) is a nice evening walk. There's a cafe called Original coffee which has a rooftop place where where you can see the entire shopping street - you get a nice view of the fountain etc.
(5) We had lots of coffee at many interesting coffee places. Original coffee is a chain which we enjoyed quite a bit. They had nice cakes/muffins too.
(6) The change of guard is nice to see - it gets pretty crowded so get there a bit early. The moment the change of guard is done - the place gets deserted - it's a bit funny to see.
