Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur)
Places visited: Kuala Lumpur
Time: December 2019 for 3 days.
General tips:
(1) Kuala Lumpur was a pleasant surprise. Much bigger and better than I expected.
(2) You'll get GREAT AirBnB for super cheap. We stayed at the Faces Suites for about $60 a night. It was AWESOME!
(3) Grab app is a must-have.
(4) Batu Caves was fantastic!
(5) You'll not get over the beauty of the twin-towers.
Kuala Lumpur airport is very far from the city. It's a long and pretty expensive taxi ride away. Once you get into the city, the first thing you'll notice is how big it is and the number of high-rise buildings.
We were told that AirAsia (the main airlines of Malaysia) is very strict about baggage weight limits. But, in our case, e didn''t fin sthat to be true. They forgave our overweight baggage without any fuss.
Definitely do an AirBnb near KLCC (KL city center). You'll get fantastic views of the twin tower for very cheap. We did the hop-on hop-off bus tour and loved it. The bus tour will take you to all city attractions and is a great way to choose sites you want to spend more time at.
We absolutely loved 2 things about KL
(1) Our day trip to Batu caves. I had zero expectations and honestly want too thrilled about the hike to visit a temple. But, it was totally worth it. We loved the caves and the Muruga temple. Everything about our dat trip to the Bato Caves beat our expectations. We used Grab to book taxis to and fro.
(2) The Petronas twin towers. They are seriously gorgeous. This would easily be at the top of my favorite buildings in the world. See the tower in the night and day time from close and afar.
Also, Nasi Lamek is a must-have Malaysian dish.
