Gemany (Munich)
Country visited: Germany
Places visited: Munich
Dates visited: 2nd week of September 2015 for 4 days
General tips:
(1) If you are traveling from the US, you may feel that you've landed in a parallel universe when you step into Munich. Its so similar to any big city in the US, yet everything is slightly different.
(2) Germans eat a lot of potatoes and sausages. Their food is so hearty.
(3) Germans are extremely friendly people. The language is hard and most names are so long and difficult to pronounce.
(4) Beer is kind of a big deal here. So drink up, my friends.
German food is hearty, functional and fairly priced in most-places. Below are a couple of places in Munich we thought the food was worth our time and money.
Kantine im Rathaus: Canteen in/near city hall. Big portion sizes, health food at reasonable prices. Definitely try their apple studel in vanilla sauce.
Hofbarhaus: Such a boisterous atmosphere. We loved their apple strudel with vanilla sauce.
(2) Accomodation:
AirBnB is definitely the way to go if you are in Munich. Houses have very functional appliances and the AirBnB we stayed in had blazing fast internet speeds. It was priced very reasonaly for the full house.
(2)BMW museum : we didn't go here for the lack of time, but heard its good. The building is interesting to look at from outside.
(3) If you are visiting in September/October, definitely visit Oktoberfest - you can buy the costume for about 99 euros. Ask locals where you can find these shops.
(4)Hangout around their city hall: They have this clock tower which has an interesting musical that plays around noon (check to confirm).
